THE LOSS OF A LIFETIME.
I see you Father Time, pacing ahead and not holding gaze.
As realisation troubles thee heart, stolen a treasure from us have you.
A gem so priceless, so cherished, so loved. Lies now on the bosom of heaven.
And with empty hands here we stand, but our hearts so heavy they fall.
Fortunate am I, to hear tales from afar. By a man so eager with us to share.
So daft am I as a child to ignore, those words of wisdom as moments to spare.
Today deprived of my wealth I stand, and I've lost those days beneath the mist.
But the last time we saw and held hands I remember, a blessing to guide me forever.
Walking up those flight of stairs, my eyes dart to that door unfurled.
Instead of my dear grandpa, I behold a void of emptiness and silence.
And how restless I feel to know, all anyone hears is the harmonizing quiet.
And dares nobody to applaud the harmony, or even acknowledge its existence.
The sight that stabs the heart of anyone passing by, is the frail woman by the door.
Her quivering hands and compulsive gaze, muffled prayers on the tip of her lips.
Companionship of years at a hault, she finds herself in a lonely place.
Rest assured grandma, with you we are. You are the promise we are destined to keep.
In this moment of loss and despair, come together we all to mourn.
As the flame in the distance devours, a life well built and lived.
The essence of the ashes fill the air, a breeze showering heaven's gifts.
A touch of reminder to hold on and look after, the precious half he's left behind.
Worries aside dear grandpa, rest in peace at the abode in the skies above.
We uphold your love and trust, cherish the memories you've bestowed.
Agreeing to my sister's words on legacy, it's a duty and promise for us to keep.
The love of your life is safe and sound, in our hearts and the palm of our hands.
As the new dawn arrives, I find myself down the aisle of stairs.
Looking back i see that sight, a house so quiet, so solemn and dead.
And I realize Father Time, ahead you keep running, pulling the truth of life near and near.
But we are only human,we'd like to stop and cherish the moments that'll be forever gone.
Yet we are forced to come to terms with your pace. And accept the reality of Time's Fate.
(Miss you dear Grandpa. We love you so much❤️)
