THE NIGHT MANAGER - A MUST WATCH.

Hi guys. Welcome back to another post after a long long time. I did have a period of contemplation about whether I should write about Covid19 and the times we are in, about me beginning my college, but I realised it would take some time to put it all together and I would also need to have a bit more experience, considering I'm sitting at home all the time due to the pandemic. Hence, I will be bringing that to you another time. Today, you are going to be reading about one of my most favourite limited series of all time, one which swept several Golden Globes and Emmys

'THE NIGHT MANAGER'

If you are fan of espionage thrillers, shrouded in mystery and action, woven along with some beautiful men and women in really exotic and gorgeous places, this one is for you. This limited series aired on BBC back in 2016. I found the show two years later and absolutely loved it. It also surprised me that not many people I know are familiar with this show, hence this attempt to bring more attention to it.

Based on the famous book 'The Night Manager' by John Le Carre, which swept readers of their feet, the story revolves around Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier who is currently working as the Night Manager at a Franchise hotel in Cairo. He is recruited by Angela Burr, the manager of a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Taskforce, to investigate an illegal arms sale and infiltrate the circle of arms dealer Richard Roper.
The series takes you through the experience of Pine in turning into a spy and finding a spot inside Roper's operation. The task changes him in so many ways and he ends up having to conspire alongside several of Roper's illegal activities. We also find him falling for Roper's lover in the process and having to prioritize her safety as well. The show does exceptionally well at holding the viewers' attention in every aspect. The plot comes full circle, without leaving any loopholes, all the more reason to enjoy this show.

Moving on to the cast. Tom Hiddleston is in the lead as Jonathan Pine, and he stuns the audience with his brilliant performance, like he always does. (No bias whatsoever). Hugh Laurie is cast as the notorious arms dealer Richard Roper. He does an incredible job as I always saw Laurie as a humorous actor and so the vile and evil performance astonished me.

Olivia Colman, a name that has graced the pages of my blog before, portrays the role of Angela Burr. Its a testament to her brilliance, as she carries her pregnant belly around, through the entire show. Also John Le Carre's novel depicted the character of Burr as a man and the show put a spin on that. We also have a brilliant array of supporting cast- Elizabeth DebickiTom Hollander, all giving stellar performances and glorifying the show even more.

The ambience set by the show is unbelievable. The locations are beyond beautiful and are shot in perfect alignment to the environment set by the script. The cinematography by Michael Snyman is on point and he does an exceptional job in capturing the perfect aesthetic for every scene. I cannot complete this post without crediting the music composition by Victor Reyes. I personally am a sucker for perfect music scores and this one does not disappoint. Once you hear it, its stuck in your head.

The show has done absolutely well and I would love for all of you to have a watch. There are certain rumors flying around about a second season, which I am not sure how they are going to make it work as the adaptation of the novel had been completed with the first season. But we can always show appreciation to something fresh always.

And that ladies and gentlemen, and anyone defining as both or neither, is my review for this amazing show, 'The Night Manager'. If you get a chance, please do watch the show and let me know about it in the comments below if you plan to do so or you have already watched it.
